Went to bed last night depressed, thinking about Notre Dame. A very loud, obnoxious bird woke me up around 2am. Instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, I picked up my phone and quickly scanned the news for updates. The pictures somewhat reminded me of old church ruins. Next thing I know I'm off on a search and read escapade. In order:

1. Fountains Abbey
2. Glastonbury Abbey
3. Dissolution of the Monasteries (I'm still pissed about this particular event)
4. Richard Whiting
5. Hanged, Drawn and Quartered process
6. King Arthur's Excalibur and cute story of girl finding a sword in the same lake that the King supposedly threw it in
7. Edmund I 
8. Edward II and debate over whether he died as stated or lived on in exile
9. Hugh Despenser the Younger and interesting article on discovery of bones at Hulton Abbey
10. BBC article from 2005 -- "Worst Historical Britons List" (this was interesting)
11. Prince William, Duke of Cumberland
12. Charles Edward Stuart (I don't know why, but I now know he's buried in St. Peter's Basilica)

It's now 6:45am and I'm exhausted. Time for coffee and starting work I guess.

🤣 Sorry that you couldn’t sleep, but I was just this at the Dissolution of the Monasteries. 500 hundred years and we’re still pissed at it.
